About this tour

An open group trip to Kalam for solo travellers, friends, couples and families. Swat river valley, Ushu Forest and Mahodand Lake (snow days in winter), with Malam Jabba on the way back. Run end to end by Rumaix with our own captain, vehicles and checked hotels.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day01 Islamabad to Kalam

We leave Islamabad at 6:00 am and take the M1 and Swat Motorway to Chakdara, then continue through Mingora, Madyan and Bahrain. With breakfast and lunch stops the drive takes about 8-9 hours, and we reach Kalam by late afternoon. Overnight in Kalam.

Day02 Ushu Forest and Mahodand Lake

After breakfast we switch to jeeps and drive through Ushu Forest to Mahodand Lake, about 2 hours each way on a rough track, with time at the lake for a walk or a boat ride. From about December the track is usually snowed in, so winter groups spend the day in the snow at Ushu Forest and around Kalam. In the evening we hold a bonfire and BBQ dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Kalam.

Day03 Kalam to Malam Jabba and Islamabad

We leave Kalam at 8:00 am and drive about 3 hours to Malam Jabba for the chairlift, the viewpoints and, on winter dates, the ski slopes. After a lunch break we head down to Mingora and back along the Swat Motorway, reaching Islamabad at around 9:00-10:00 pm.
